Frequently Asked Questions

DO I NEED TO BRING MY INSTRUMENT WITH ME?

Yes, everyone will need to bring their own instrument(s) to our retreat.

Sort of goes without saying, but we've said it anyway.

  • Amps for singers, guitarists, bass players, and electric keyboard players. Please note those of you bringing bulky instruments and equipment: we’ll let you know at check-in where everything goes.

  • Microphones and leads, for you singers.

  • Instrument cables

  • Music stands — there are some available at Ardingly, but we suggest you bring your own to be sure you'll have one. Please make sure it’s labelled with your name.

  • A notebook for jotting down the incredible things you'll learn. Music staff paper is preferred so you can make notes.

  • Please also bear in mind you may need an extension lead. Please bring your own with you as these will not be available onsite.

WHAT DO I NEED TO PACK FOR MY STAY?

  • Clothes. The dress code is casual, but you might want to bring dressier things for the evening Jazz and Blues Club.

  • Bath and hand towels – please note that these are not provided by Ardingly.

  • Shampoo/soap/ toiletries

  • The bedding provided by Ardingly is made of synthetic materials, so if you prefer natural fibres, you should bring your own duvet cover, pillowcase, and/or under sheet. All the beds are singles.

  • Hairdryers

  • A bottle for water and/or hot drinks

  • Exercise kit for walking, running and tennis..

  • Umbrella or other rain protection for getting between the buildings in inclement weather.
